Chun-Li is a staple character in the Street Fighter series, but for those who are not familiar with her, she is what we call a "Charged" character. Now, the reason why she is a charged character, just to give you a visual example, is that for the input for Kikoken, you see here the Kikoken, which is actually a back-forward punch special move. It means you need to hold back for at least two seconds before you can do the forward punch to execute the projectile. So, you can't just do the projectile with back-forward punch; you gotta hold back first, hence the charge. The same applies to her down-up Spinning Bird Kick move that we'll go over later, which is also a charge.
To show you what I mean, when you're walking backwards and you do the back special, there it goes. But if I just do this back special immediately, it does the neutral special. So, it's kind of a good way you can use it in a combo if you're in their face and you're holding down-back, you can do back special that works as well. But if your opponent is on the offensive and you're walking back, you can throw it out there and then do your anti-air as well to catch them in the air while you're doing this special. Also, notice that the projectile here is not full screen, so keep that in mind. If you're full screen, they might jump over it, but it's also useful if you want to go full screen, you gotta charge it up.
Now, for reference, let's say you're in the corner and you're just getting your butt kicked, you're in block stun, and they're going to town on you. Now, listen, you're holding down-back, which is your block for crouching, but you're also holding down. So, what you can do is you can press up and any kick at the same time, thus doing your charged combo, your charged special move here. [Music]
So, let's go ahead and say you're gonna do down light kick, down light punch, well, the whole time you're holding down, so then all you gotta do is push up and kick. That's your special move there. You could also meter burn it for more effectiveness. As a beginner, with Chun-Li, you've got these charge inputs, so you want to keep in mind when you're holding back for block and you want to throw in a special, it's going to be the projectile, not your kicks.
Speaking of the kicks, that's where Chun-Li specializes. I mean, look at those powerful thighs. In fact, almost all of her special moves are kicks. Speaking of her kicks and her specials, her Senenshu, her overhead kick here, that's kind of the point. It is an overhead, you see that there. Now, the reason why that matters is let's say your opponent's blocking low a lot, you just can't get them moving, they're blocking low. Well, guess what, baby? Here's an overhead for you. Not only that, but the enhanced version allows for a combo. So, if you're there in the corner and you can't get a hit, go for the overhead and then go for the combo.
Chun-Li is, of course, famous for her kicks. Here's her normal special right there. What's cool about the enhanced version of the kicks is that it doesn't just stop there. If you press kick again during your special, you get more kicks as you see there. We use no extra bars, so honestly, go for it. More kicks, more damage, the better. Her kicks are so great, her thighs are so big and muscular that she can do those kicks in the air. So, let's say your opponent's jumping, and you want to have a good anti-air, you're already in the air, you want some reach, you want some good hits, there you go, do the kicks to the special in the air. You can also enhance it in the air as well.
Now, Chun-Li has some super interesting Super Arts that I want to go over. A couple of notes for you to help you understand. Her Super Art 1, it's not bad, but the thing that I want to note here is that it's actually invulnerable on Startup. So, if they're gonna come at you with a hit, or Super Art 2, what's really cool about this move is you can end it in any way you want. You can end on the ground like such, but also, if you hold up during the actual Super, you'll end up in the air, allowing you to get a couple of extra hits. So, hold up, and you'll jump off with them hit him.
Now, for her Super Art 3, what I want to show you is the damage. The total damage for the Super alone is 3,200 damage. Now, if Chun-Li is below 25 Health, her Super 3 does more damage and has a different animation at the end. So, watch this. Normally, it does 3,200 damage, but instead, now, it does 3,600 damage. So, though you can use Super Art 3 before that, I would recommend later in the game when you have the three Super bars ready to rock, it might be better to clutch it out and get that little bit of extra damage for the clutch win.
Now, for some fun and easy combos to get you started today with Chun-Li and having some fun with her, the first one is the overhead kicks enhanced into forward kicks. Here it is, a nice simple one, pretty good damage by itself. You can also use it in the corner. Speaking of the corner, if you got the Drive Impact and you want some Drive Impact combos, you can Drive Impact medium punch into any special you want, really. If you're really feeling ballsy, you can go Drive Impact medium and then enhance your special.
I personally found that Chun-Li's best jumping attack is actually her heavy kick, good reach, good knockback, and allowing you to follow up with whatever you want, such as maybe a medium kick into a special.
I hope this helped you on your journey to learn Chun-Li in Street Fighter 6. If it did, make sure to give this video a thumbs up. Let me know down below what do you think of Chun-Li. Do you like her, do you hate her? Let me know. Take it one step at a time, and I will see you in the next video
